Overview
- Our representative will pick you up early in the morning for your transfer to Cairo to see its most famous sights. A refreshment stop will be made during your journey if required. Upon your arrival, accompanied by your private Egyptologist guide you will learn the story of how the Pyramids were constructed, and explore the mortuary temples of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. 450 feet high and 756 feet long on each side and composed of 2300000 blocks the Great Pyramid remains the most massive building on earth built more than 5000 years ago and is the oldest of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Continue to the Great Sphinx, the giant statue of a reclining mythical beast, with the face of the Pharaoh Khafre and a lion’s body.
- You will then stop for an included lunch at a local restaurant before being driven into central Cairo to explore the artefacts of the National Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. The museum’s collections exceed 120,000 masterpieces from the pre-dynastic to the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman periods. Explore the huge first floor and learn about the mummification art of Ancient Egypt, this floor also contains the shining golden collection of the boy king Tut-Ench-Amon. The museum is vast and gets very busy, your Egyptologist guide will take you to the more important exhibits first before exploring the rest of the Museum.
