What to expect
Explore the amazing sights of Ancient Egypt on a Luxor Day Tour. Start your tour with the pick-up at your hotel in Hurghada and a drive to Luxor in an air-conditioned vehicle. Your Egyptologist guide will start by visiting the famous Karnak Temple – the largest place of worship that was ever built. Its ancient name Ipet-isut means “the most sacred of places.” The temple, or, more correctly, the complex of temples, was built more than two thousand years ago by generation after generation of pharaohs. Admire the chapels and the sacred lake, a UNESCO World Heritage site Within the complex, the great “Hypostyle Hall” is an incredible forest of columned halls with giant pillars. Enjoy lunch at a selected restaurant in Luxor before heading to the West Bank of the Nile River. After lunch, we continue to the Colossi of Memnon and admire the 2 massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, the only remains of the Temple of Amenhotep 111. Next, learn about Egypt’s female ruler at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Be inspired by the stunning architecture and discover the temple’s beautiful murals on its inner walls. Continue onto the famed Valley of the Kings. This incredible complex is home to 63 tombs of Pharaohs that date back nearly 4,000 years. Discover the royal tombs, decorated with scenes from Egyptian mythology that give clues to the beliefs of the Pharaohs and funerary rituals of the period. Over time the majority of the tombs have been opened and robbed for their antiquities, but they still give an idea of the opulence and power of the rulers of the time. Finally, a visit to Howard Carter House, the founder of Tutankhamun’s Tomb, recently restored, showing his tools and how he lived, before your return journey back to Hurghada.
